Back to School 2009

The boys headed back to school this morning. I am usually in Las Vegas for the opening of school, but due to some fortuitous show scheduling, I was home.

Bo was ready to go!

Zeke...not so much.

Big Mack. He's 5'5" and 145 lbs. He's almost a man.

Bodie, off to pick up Maddie, his friend from across the street.

There she is.

The short walk to school.

I think Zeke and his hair have some sort of agreement...kind of a "Don't mess with me and I won't mess with you."

What cuties!

I was allowed to go into Bodie's classroom and watch them sing their morning song.
Big Softy alert: After we hugged and said good-bye, I turned and headed for the classroom door.
Just as I got there, I heard Bo call after me, "Daddy."
I turned and said, "What honey?"
"I love you," he replied. Tears welled up into my eyes.

Bo-Jorn Bo-Jorg: Future Tennis Star

Got a chance to watch Bo in Tennis camp today. What a treat. Seven kids swinging wildly at tennis balls, but hitting nothing but air.

Actually it was a lot of fun. Here are the pics.

Leo Carrillo Beach with Bo

Bo and I took off this morning to look at the tidal pools of the Pacific Ocean at Leo Carrillo Beach. After our trip to Hilton Head last week, Bo can say he played in two oceans in less than a week.

We climbed over the rocks to the "secret" location.
The water was 60 degrees or so...very different than the bath water of the Atlantic.

Our first discovery: a starfish!

Our 2nd discovery: a cave!

Bo did some rock climbing. I was getting the evil eye from several concerned parental units, clearly upset that I was letting Bo climb so high. Sorry, he's just better than your kid.

We found some other tidal creatures. According to Bo, these are "sea enemies," but they aren't mean to us.

Then, we found a starfish family covering one of the rocks.

And this well-hidden crab in the crevice.

And on our way out, we found this monster starfish.

Bo wanted to shake hands with it.

Then, on to my favorite "dive" fish bar, Neptune's Net on the PCH. Neptune's has community tables, so Bodie decided to hold court, and had the whole table laughing for much of lunch.

And the obligatory, "self pic."

More Hilton Head: Sharky Update

The boys managed to wrestle in a few sharks, a horseshoe crab, and various other fish. Bo was bait-boy, and took his responsibilities very seriously, often sprinting to get Mack and Zeke more bait.

Bye-bye Hilton Head. Until we see you again.

Hilton Head 2009 - Beach, Bikes, Booze

We are having a great time on HHI. Mack and Z have been doing a lot of fishing, and Bo has not left the water. And we finally got some tasty waves today.

Here are some pics of the boys fishing for sharks.

Bike ride to Coco's for lunch and beers.

Finally arrived. Ate some fries, fried bologna, fried fish, fried chicken, fried burgers, and drank beer and boat drinks. These pics are from two different visits.

Then our families left so Ed and I could do some damage.
There are no pictures showing the damage we did.

Onto the pool.

Bo and Z show their pool catching skills.

Clearly, I'm drunk.

Atlantic in the evening.
